We have brought together a distinctive collection of crafts which have been designed and created by Sri Lankan artists. There is a wealth of a talent in the country which enjoys many different influences and this is very much manifested in both art and music.

The mosaics are designed and made by Alefiya Akbarally who has studied the art of ‘tesserae’ in Spain and Italy and her work is successfully sold and exhibited in galleries across Sri Lanka.

Manel Jagoda is an artist celebrated for the ceramics which she hand paints with animal images in luscious, vibrant colours and she enjoys an international following for her work.

Our baskets are produced by a Sri Lankan fair trade organisation, which was named as a finalist in the United Nations Development Prgramme Equator prize in 2004. Its aims are to reclaim and sustain wetlands by teaching farmers how to grow reeds organically, which in turn provides women with opportunities to lean traditional weaving skills.
